Vic: One dead in fiery car-tanker collision

A person was killed when their car burst into flames after colliding with a fuel tankersouth-east of Melbourne last night.

Police say the car was heading on Tynong North Road, Tynong when it hit an east-boundtanker on the Princess Highway about 11pm (AEST).

Senior Constable WAYNE WILSON says the car hit the side of the tanker and was draggedabout 150 metres along the road before the tanker caught fire, engulfing the car.

Snr-Const WILSON says the deceased is believed to be a man, but damage from the fireprevented definite identification.

The male tanker driver was not injured.

The death takes the road toll to 110, 12 fewer than this time last year.
