Vic: Booze busted, two injured in bottle shop bingle

MELBOURNE, Aug 28 AAP - The booze flowed for all the wrong reasons when a car ploughed
through a hotel bottle shop in Geelong.

Police believe a man failed to stop his Ford Laser sedan at a T-intersection and crashed
into the Grovedale Hotel bottleshop on the Surf Coast Highway at Grovedale, Geelong, shortly
before 10pm (AEST) yesterday.

The crash caused serious structural damage, coming to rest in the shop's cool room.

The driver, 42, of Grovedale, and a diner inside the hotel, 30, of Belmont, were taken
to Geelong Hospital with minor injuries.

Geelong traffic management unit senior constable Ron Gray said someone could have been
killed or seriously injured.

"A staff member was actually supposed to be doing stocktake in the bottle shop cool
room so it is very fortunate we are not dealing with a fatality," he said.

The driver will be charged on summons with driving offences.
