QLD:Drag race hotshot in drug trial

BRISBANE, Aug 17 AAP - A former hotshot of the drag racing circuit has been committed
to stand trial on drugs charges.

Brett Raymond Stevens will face the Supreme Court in Brisbane at a date to be fixed
on one count each of trafficking and two of producing a dangerous drug.

A committal hearing in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday and Tuesday was told that
Stevens, 45, produced ecstasy and cannabis at his Narangba home between 2007 and 2009.

He is also accused of selling amphetamines.

A further two related summary charges of possessing tainted property will be dealt
with in Brisbane Magistrates Court in late November.

Stevens was a stalwart of the drag racing circuit.

At his final race meeting at Willowbank in December 2008, he received a plaque in recognition
of his 18 years in the sport.
